So you know the score. Your bogstandard RiffCast on RiffWorld is about 5 minutes of soloing over a standard rock or blues progression. The lead guitar's probably rather prominent in the mix, and the whole thing's probably slightly overcompressed 'cause the input levels were a bit too high. If it's a collaboration, then you can times that by at least two. Lots more soloing etc.
The RiffCasts that really stand out to my ears are the ones that have a structure, a melody of sorts, unusual or interesting chord progressions and some variety and surprise. To be my RiffCast of the week, you can times that by at least two.
This week's RiffCast Of The Week comes from strat94, and it's called The Anunnaki. It's a very original piece of work, and most definitely not an extended 12-bar blues.
